Passed the PMP on December 4th

I passed the test yesterday on my first attempt.  I would say the test is rather difficult to say the least.  Looking back I am glad it is difficult because this gives more value to the overall certification.  I am not going to do a long review so, here are my thoughts:

Study Material

PMBOK (2 X)

Rita (3 X)

Took several exams:

Fast Track

Oliver

HeadFirst

Iphone Apps

About 2000 questions total.  I was scoring @ 80% on all tests before taking the exam

Exam Tips

The exam is different from any practice questions you have had before.  It was written by a different person and you have not seen or been asked these questions like this before.  However, there is hope.  They cover the same content.  It is 90% situational.

My suggestion would be to know ITTO like the back of your hand.  You can't memorize them.  You have to know each one and how they work.  This is what I would say helped me the most.  I didn't memorize all of them.  I just made sure I knew them, their order, and what they meant VERY well before the exam.

I was finishing practice exams in under 2 hrs.  The PMP took me 3 hrs and 30 min.  I had 30 min for review and finished with 7 min remaining.  Waiting for the results was very stressful.

I am glad my journey has ended.  I hope my review helps.  Good luck and thanks for your tips.

Congratulation to your passed exam! I scheduled mine on January 18th in Geneva. Did you study with the old material? I have Rita's but not the new one. Do you think studying with the old exam material not updated to the exam after August 31st is enough to pass by?

I studied the new version of Rita's book.  My version of Fasttrack was the older version though.  I saw no ethics or professionalism questions on the exam.  Besides that I don't think it would matter what version of the material you studied.
