What's your best advice for someone getting into project management? What are your key tips and tricks you've learned along the way that others could use/learn from?

I am based in india and here its easy for one to get into PM profession. Even a person with Engineering degree can become PM after 8 to 10 years of experience.
Today with introduction of PMP , PRINCE2 certifications its easy for people to showcase their PM skills ,
First you will need a break , you can inform your management of your long term aspirations of becoming PM and then carve out a roadmap for the same.
Before I became PM , I thought it was an easy job to do and just delegate things. ONly after you actually start doing PM activities you can appreciate the complexity and hard work which goes into daily life of PM.
In India PMs work very hard. I used to work in TOP Indian IT firm and when they took an average of hours spent across job bands, the PM and Sr. PM hours were most.
