***Management Plan Question**

Question: A major stakeholder in the project wants to know his role and responsibility in the scheduling process of the project. He also wants to understand how the schedule baseline is established for the project and which scheduling methodologies are used in the project. Which document should the project manager ask him to refer to?
 
Options:
A. Project Management Plan
B. Project Schedule Baseline
C. Stakeholder Register
D. Schedule Management Plan
 

Correct Answer : D

 

My Question : Whether Schedule Managment Plan talks about  Roles and Responsibility ( it could be in Estimate Activity resouces). But typically it comes under HR Management Kknowledge Area.

My answer is A

Slightly ambigous question. But since this is all about schedule mgmt, it can be found in schedule management plan.

agree..but isn't the Schedule Management Plan a component of the overall PM Plan?

it is contained in the Proj Mgt Plan, but the question is specifically refering to sched mgt plan. In other words, if i ask you a yellow-coloured crayon, are u going to give me the crayon box and just let me select the specific yellow crayon i want? :)

As Admin pointed out, the question was made tricky by the first sentence, however, it does not make the question wrong. The stakeholder in this situation could be assumed to be not knowledgeable of his roles and responsibilities - but specifically related to scheduling. Then the required of the question is best stated in the proceeding sentence.

Schedule Management Plan sets the format and criteria in developing and controlling the project schedule.

Friends, this one is interesting, if I decompose this question I would see three units of information that the major stakeholder in the project wants to know:
1. Role and responsibility
2. Schedule baseline
3. Scheduling methodologies
I would rather choose “Project Management Plan” since this is the only and best place where you can get everything i.e. it has contents from output of all planning process.

if it is confusion around R&R then I think RBS (Resource Breakdown Structure) is o/p of estimate Activity resourcea and contains not only skilled labour but also material, equipment etc.
