Schedule Management Questions

Just two queries..

1. What is actually a schedule model?Is it the same as project schedule?PMBOK Page 181 says Schedule Baseline is approved version of schedule model

2.How can critical path be both the longest path through the project and the shortest possible project duration at the same time? (My curiosity)

Schedule model is a schedule network analysis tool that is used to generate project schedule. It can be manually or using project management software. Schedule model is mainly used during project execution to track and manage project schedule

Critical path is the longest duration path in the network diagram. So if there are 3 paths in network diagram

1. 5 weeks
2. 8 weeks
3. 10 weeks

10 weeks is the longest duration hence the critical path.

Since you can not complete the project before 10 weeks, its the shortest possible project duration.
