I am planning to take PMP After 1st of November (After New Version), am totally worried!

Hello All,

I am right now beginning studying the PMP, and I believe that i will not be ready before 1st of November. That means am going to take the exam after 1st of Nov.

My questions:

  1. Is it wise to carry on studying PMP while am knowing that the exam will be change?
  2. Do I have to wait till new material covering the new PMP version published?
  3. Is the change really affected and noticeable?
  4. How can I ensure that am studying the PMP within the new changes in domains?

Any further advice is really needed! am really worried and confused.

Many thanks,

Faisal

Hello Faisal,

Even if you completely ignore the changes w.r.t 1st November 2015, you can secure 5P with the same preparations. Out of 200 questions in the real exam, not more than 3-4 questions should change and hence nothing has changed when you see from exam passing score.

Answers:

1.Is it wise to carry on studying PMP while am knowing that the exam will be change?
A) Absolutely yes, just make sure you are reading PMBOK 5 and its reference books.

2.Do I have to wait till new material covering the new PMP version published?
A) PMI has already published those changes in 5 pages. Google for “pmp-certification-exam-outline” and you can download the PDF which has been added.

3.Is the change really affected and noticeable?
A) Not at all, only 0.3% of new contents have been added. Over 99% contents stills remain the same.

4.How can I ensure that am studying the PMP within the new changes in domains?
A) Just read PMBOK v5 and its reference books and read “pmp-certification-exam-outline” (those 5 pages) which PMI has published. You are all set. Please do not buy any new books or get into trap of new products and pay high perks.

Admin, please highlight this to PMP aspirants. Just few new tasks have been added in the domains and these are nothing very new for anyone. Things we already know and we already hear in sessions and classrooms. PMBOK v 5 remains the same and it would be the base for the exam unlike what we have as of today.

Saket, PMP

Hi Saket..

Thanks a lot for your great feedback and participation.

Other further questions, since i went through the “pmp-certification-exam-outline" as you recommand.

I noticed that in Kowledge and Skills there are new items have been added. For example, in Monitor and Control Domain there are additions for instance:

  1. Process Analysis tachniques (e.g, LEAN, Kanban, Six Sigma)
  2. Project quality best practise and standereds (e.g., ISO, BS, CMMI, IEEE)

The questions:

  1. Do I have to learn and study the above tachniques, best practise, and standrerds? In order to be aware and able to answer any question comes for this in exam?
  2. Do these additions in Kowledge and Skills affect my preperation for PMP? Since once I compered pervious Exam outline published in 2011 with this new 2015, there are some major additions/changes in Kowledge and Skills thoughout all Demains.

Again, I would like to greatly thank you for making me positive :)

All the best,

Faisal
