PM Fastrack question- scope Management

Friends,

I answered this question incorrectly but i am not happy with the choice it says to be correct,  can you please try and answer this question, I will post the correct choice with the justification provided by rmc.

Question -

A manager has a responsibility for a project that has the support of a senior manager. From the beginning, you have disagreed with the manager as to how the project should proceed and what the deliverables should be. You and she have disagreed over many issues in the past. Your department has been tasked with providing some key work packages for the project. What should you do ?

a. Inform your manager to get her support

b.Provide manager with what she needs

c.Ask to be removed from the project

d.Sit down with the manager at the beginning of the project, attempt to describe why you object to the project,  and discover a way to solve the problem.

Answer to my understanding should be "D", since a Senior Manager can be stakeholder for the project and as a project manager having stakeholder support for clear project scope understanding - based on which the rest of the project relies on, so sitting with the senior manager & explaining the reasons for your disagreement is appropriate.

Kindly review & correct me as per requirement.

Correct Ans is : B

Thanks friends for your responses, i too answered D.

However correct answer is B as per rmc.

Justification given -

We assume that proper project management was followed and your opinion was considered during project initiating. Therefore, you need to provide the work as approved by management.

This explanation is contradicting to the question scenario where manager is disaggreeing to project managers opinion and expanation says your opinion was considered.

This type of questions loosens the confidence although thorough preperation.Still i feel correct choice should be D as providing workpackages without having clarity on requirement would end up in bad project management and termination of project.

Hi Snigade,

The question is asking  "....What should you do ".  In case the question asks ''.....What could have been prevented "  then your answer D is correct.

You stick with answer D

As you was involved during initiationg and you disagree with PM.

Not necessary that your concern must be approved. Assume that your point was rejected by management.

So while you are asked to work on deliverable then you should provide what manager wants.
